After months of hardwork and dedication the Lady Lions had finally made it to the turning point in their season, the first round of Substate. The girls took on the Bonner Springs Braves at home on March 5th. The girl ended up victorious with a score of 59-29. “Winning the first round of Substate was an unreal feeling because we, as a team, got the opportunity to do it on our home court. However, we know we are not done yet and we have been putting in the work for Saturday’s championship game! We are all super pumped and ready to go,” said Senior Samantha Moburg.

Winning this game was crucial for the Lady Lions to move onto the next round of Substate which will take place on Saturday, March 7th at home, once again. The girls will go onto face the Desoto Wildcats in hopes of defeating them, as well to go to State. “It feels amazing to advance to the second round! Just to be a part of this year’s team is a blessing. In the beginning of the year we all wanted to go to State, so being one game closer to our goal feels like a dream. As far as playing against Desoto, we will just have to see who wants it more,” said Senior Shannon Jessup. The girls have gained a massive amount of support from not only the school, but all of the community as well. Everyone is hoping for the same outcome of them going to State.
