Thirteen Lansing High School DECA students qualified for DECA Nationals, which will be held in Orlando, Florida from April 27 to May 2. Those students are Junior Drew Zeck, Sophomore Secret Bleam, Sophomore Ryley Bullock, Senior Ashley Fox, Sophomore Karis Jones, Sophomore Camden Maestas, Sophomore Jaqueline Varney, Senior Margret Vaughn, Sophomore Ayah Wahbeh, Juniors Molly Romano and Feliciana Otano, Seniors Brooke Smith and Samantha Hunsucker, and Senior Nicole Welling. This is all because they took a trip to Manhattan, Kansas over the course of three days, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, for DECA State. “It felt really good to be able to qualify again because nationals is in Florida this year, so it is going to be really fun. I am excited for all of the fun stuff that we are going to do,” said Junior Feliciana Otano.
Although the students were on the trip to compete, it was not strictly business. They got to do many fun activities such as bowling, eating, hanging out in the hotel, and even exploring the Kansas State University Campus. “Meeting new people and becoming friends with them was by far my favorite part and the food, the food was good too,” said Sophomore Kendra Schnieder. With the students back home at LHS they can now strengthen and prepare for Nationals in April, so they can take home some hardware again.
